There are neighbors to your left, across (up a hill) and to your right.
Close enough for a cup of sugar, but far enough to not need shades.
some of my favorite local spots, could be yours, too:
Kitty’s Market for the chicken dinner, coffee + treats
Germantown Laundromat for sustainable home supplies
Lil Deb’s Oasis for a good time + food to match
Tiny Hearts Farm Shop for flowers
Ro Jan Park for a scenic walk (dog-friendly!)
MX Morningstar Farm Store for fresh food essentials
Crystal Essence crystal shop for abundance returning tenfold
Pilates Hudson for non-outdoor fitness
Bartlett House for a blueberry rose latte + pistachio croissant
Oak Hill Estate sits on land originally occupied by The Mohicans who migrated to the Mahicannituck, the river that flows both ways, (Hudson Valley) 700 years ago. They refer to themselves as the Muh-he-con-neok which means People of the Waters that are Never Still. They are tied to the river by name and livelihood—seasonal hunting, fishing and farming along the Hudson and its tributaries. The majority of today’s Mohicans are located on a reservation in Wisconsin, known now as the Stockbridge-Munsee band.
In acknowledging the hardship and contributions of the Mohicans and their ancestors, we honor them past and present in order to create an inclusive and equitable space for all. You can learn more about them at mohican.com
In addition to recognizing Oak Hill’s first people, we also pay gratitude to the land and its animals that continue to nurture us.
